DF Studio Security: Location-Based Restrictions

Apr 8, 2022

Protecting the security of assets, proprietary information, and intellectual property within DF Studio accounts is always an utmost priority. Due to the sensitive nature of material stored in DF Studio, it is important to remain vigilant and proactive in avoiding unauthorized access or attempts to subvert DF Studio technology.

Beginning this month, DF Studio will introduce an additional level of security, by enabling location-based access restrictions from countries that have been identified as being a top source for malicious activity (“hacking attempts”). The affected countries are:

  • Russia
  • China
  • Turkey
  • Bangladesh
  • Pakistan
  • Nepal
  • Romania
  • Afghanistan
  • North Korea (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea)

This process will respect the privacy of DF Studio users by restricting access based on the IP address of the originating request, using a list of IP ranges maintained by our service providers and known to be associated with the regions listed above. Users’ location data is not made available to DF Studio—this functionality is managed within our cloud provider’s content delivery network.

DF Studio users and uploaders who need to access the system from these locations should connect through a VPN. As always, please contact DF Studio Support with any questions regarding this announcement.
