Library and File Management

Folders

Folders keep Projects organized and help maintain a clean, decluttered Library.

Visit the DF Studio Knowledge Base to learn more about organizing with folders.

Projects

Projects are the basic containers for a set of images, such as a photoshoot, a group of scanned images, or any other set of files.

Collections

Collections allow Users to reorganize assets beyond the traditional Project and Setup structures, without duplicating files or adding to storage costs. They’re the perfect collaboration tools for marketing, publicity, or social media teams managing multiple sets of files simultaneously.

Setups

Setups are sub-groupings of a photography project based on the subjects or events of a photo shoot. Desktop sub-folders in any Project are imported into DF Studio as Setups, which conveniently display in a drop-down menu.

Key Frames

Save time and organizational headache by selecting recognizable key frames for any Project, Collection, or folder.

Bin

Each User can access a personal Bin as a temporary repository of files. It keeps Users organized as they move files between Collections or create a new Collection from the Bin’s contents.

Learn more about the Bin and its applications from the DF Studio knowledge base.

Inspector Panel

The Inspector panel is designed to present comprehensive asset information in a contextual, easily navigable way. The Inspector is dynamic, with data and actions that change based on your selection, and is broken down into 4 convenient tabs to help you find exactly what you need.

Recents View

The Recents View allows Users to navigate to any recently used Library item (a Project, Collection, folder, or individual asset) in just one click.

Storage View

The Storage View is an overview of all account storage that
provides a full Project listing, as well as a breakdown of data in Cold Storage, Active Storage, and image previews. Account Administrators can use the Storage View as a tool to manage files and stay on budget.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks keep a User’s favorite or frequently used Library items (Projects, Collections, folders and individual files) at-hand for easy wayfinding and fewer extra clicks.

File Stacking

Different file types with the same names are stacked together to reduce clutter and keep Libraries effortlessly organized. Find previews of stacked files, view their locations, and check their storage status in DF Studio’s Files View.

Asset Previews

DF Studio generates thumbnail previews for all files containing images, including PSD files. Previews allow for easy, at-a-glance recognition of assets.

Visual Workspace Customizations

Users can customize their workspaces to their preferences, from the size of thumbnail previews to the application’s background color.

Click on the link to visit the DF Studio Knowledge Base and learn more about how to customize your DF Studio workspace.

File Naming

DF Studio’s default behavior is to automatically create accurate Setups when proper naming conventions are used. Users can also rename setups at any time.

Renaming Tool

The Rename Image tool automates image renaming, for accurate sorting and ordering.

Filters and Menus

At the top of each thumbnail preview page, top menus allow
sorting by edits, select levels, comments, or Setups.

Visual References

Image and video file previews are always available for assets in a DF Studio Library. The main interface also contains built-in visual references for approved or killed images, select levels, and (if applicable) a custom metadata-driven badge on every asset preview.
