Inspector overhaul, User management enhancements, and deeper zoom

DF Studio is pleased to announce that the following changes have been deployed to all accounts throughout this August and September. Up-to-date information on the latest releases can always be found in the Release Notes listing.

Enhancements

Uploads & Assignments

• Previews can now be generated for BMP files when uploaded.

Account Management

• The Settings page for managing DF Studio Teams and user accounts has been overhauled to provide clearer navigation and more information, as well as filtering and exporting data.
• Notifications and alerts presented when configuring API Credentials or Application Passwords have been refined for clarity.

Asset Workflows & Organization

• The Inspector panel in the right-hand sidebar has received a comprehensive redesign, with re-ordered buttons, improved icons, and collapsible sections, for a more streamlined and user-friendly experience.
• Buttons for moving files to or from Cold Storage have been removed in contexts where no original files are available to move.
• When switching perspectives between Thumbnails View and 1-Up/2-Up View, asset selections are properly maintained.
• The zoom tool in the 1-Up and 2-Up perspectives has been enhanced so that higher zoom levels are achievable on images with sufficient resolution.
• To help prevent accidental data corruption, an alert will appear when multiple DF Studio views are open simultaneously in the same web browser.
• When adding multiple consecutive assets to a selection (holding the Shift key while clicking an asset or pressing arrow keys on the keyboard), the selection now expands more intuitively based on the existing selection.
• Menus in the menu bar have been updated so that they are more usable in circumstances where the width of the web browser window causes them to appear narrowed.
• The navigation filmstrip in 1-Up View and 2-Up View has been redesigned to be more usable in Projects and Collections containing very few assets.
• DF Studio pages are now better able to detect when a user’s session has expired, prompting the user to log in and begin a new session before performing any additional work.

Collaboration

• PDF proofsheets generated for printing may now include watermarked images.
• PDF proofsheets can now be generated (with watermarked images required) in contexts where Visual Screen Protection (VSP) is active.
• A new 6-Up layout option has been added to the PDF proofsheet export.

Security & Protection

• User accounts that have been unused for an extended period will be automatically disabled.

Bug Fixes

Messengers

• Resolved a bug which failed to send email notifications for assets added to LIVE Messengers, after the Messenger links had expired and been re-opened.
• Patched a fault which failed to track approval states for new assets added to a LIVE Approval Messenger after the Messenger had been delivered.
• Rectified an error which occurred when clicking the “Preview” button from the Edit Messenger Details screen.
• Addressed minor visual anomalies on the Re-Send Messenger screen.

Selects & Approvals

• Adjusted configurations so that the options for sharing or locking Edits are always presented in the same order when creating or modifying Edits.

Metadata

• Resolved a misconfiguration which failed to update the search index when processing new changes to the Person and Role metadata field.
• Fixed an issue which could cause metadata values in fields such as XMP:Rating to be overwritten with blank values when uploading additional files to the asset stack.
• Addressed a bug which omitted the total asset count of the current Project or Collection from the Metadata overlay.

Account Management

• Fixed a problem which made it impossible to load the Users & Teams settings screen under specific account configurations.
• Resolved an issue which caused the “Upload Users” tab to appear on the Users & Teams settings screen for DF Studio accounts that do not include upload users.
• Addressed a fault which caused the “Standard Users” tab of the Users & Teams screen to load after saving changes to a Team or upload user, rather than the appropriate tab.
• Mitigated an anomaly which caused an error when clicking “Mark Selected as Read” in the Inbox with multiple items selected.

Asset Workflows & Organization

• Improved the performance of 1-Up View when navigating through assets very rapidly.
• Addressed a misconfiguration which could cause confusion by presenting the wrong asset by default after using the filter menus to change the current imageset while working in 1-Up or 2-Up views.
• Mitigated an anomaly which prevented Project keyframe images from being set as expected.
• Fixed a bug which caused the “Filetype” and “Storage” menus in Files View to become non-functional under certain conditions.
• Patched a fault which could result in displaying the wrong asset when following a link directly to an asset from the Bookmarks menu.
• Addressed a defect which prevented the display of the “Add Note” button in the Notes tab.
• Resolved an error which could result when performing a customized search under certain circumstances.
• Corrected an issue which made it possible to scroll down well beyond the last assets in a Project or Collection view in some cases.
• Fixed a problem which caused an error when attempting to create a Messenger from selected assets on the Search Results screen.
• Resolved a defect which caused sorting to behave unexpectedly in various Library views.
• Addressed an issue which prevented proper navigation using the arrow keys when viewing assets in List View.
• Patched a fault which could result in unexpected behavior when navigating using the arrow keys after switching to the Files View with an asset selected.
• Fixed a bug which prevented navigating to the last item in a list when using the arrow keys to navigate in Files View.
• Addressed a problem which automatically focused on text input fields when opening a new overlay, with the potential for accidental deletion or modification of data.
• Corrected a defect which displayed incorrect settings in the Viewing Preferences pop-up when the default settings were in effect.
• Fixed an issue which could cause visual anomalies when displaying certain informational tooltips in the interface.
• Mitigated a problem which caused the view menu in the Collections summary to appear out of sync with the current perspective in specific conditions.
• Resolved a bug which made it possible to select multiple Setups in the Project Details screen.
• Patched a misconfiguration which caused the 1-Up preview image to be partially covered by the Asset Inspector in some cases when expanding the Asset Inspector.
• Addressed an error which could cause unexpected results when attempting to navigate assets using keyboard shortcuts after using the filter menus.
• Corrected a defect which required a page to be refreshed in order to update the background color, if adjusting the viewing preferences in 1-Up View or 2-Up View.
• Rectified a problem which could result in unwanted behavior when holding down the space bar with an asset selected.
• Resolved an issue which caused selected Projects from becoming deselected when navigating multiple pages in a Library view.
• Fixed a bug which mistakenly referred to files as “assets” in Files View.

Security & Protection

• Resolved an anomaly which could have allowed a sophisticated user to reset asset approvals for assets outside of their access permissions.
