Improved Asset Inspector, refinements to People Recognition
Software Development Update: January 2026
DF Studio is pleased to announce that the following changes have been deployed to all accounts throughout this January. Up-to-date information on the latest releases can always be found in the Release Notes listing.
Enhancements
Messengers
- Download Messengers including large numbers of assets no longer list all of the assets individually, in order to prevent delays or failures displaying the entire list.
Metadata
- When navigating directly to person view from the person editor, the active asset will be selected in the person view grid.
- Circles indicating recognized people now display a stronger highlight when moving the mouse pointer over the face.
- The metadata editing tools have been standardized to improve clarity and provide more intuitive workflow guidance.
Account Management
- The interface for adding a new contact group has been updated for greater clarity.
Asset Workflows & Organization
- To improve the usability of the workspace area, the Asset Inspector no longer resizes automatically depending on the tab that is selected. A wider version of the Inspector can still be accessed by clicking the width icon when needed.
- Animated progress indicators have been refreshed throughout, for clarity and consistency.
- Column View has been updated to behave more intuitively when scrolling the view horizontally to reveal folders or contents selected by the user.
Bug Fixes
Messengers
- Restored the Messenger Inspector to the right-hand sidebar when viewing a Messenger’s assets.
- Addressed an issue which caused the selected Messenger to become deselected when reviewing or editing Messenger details.
Metadata
- Resolved a problem which could affect the detection of names and roles in the Person(s) Shown field when invisible non-alphanumeric characters were included in the input.
- Addressed a fault which could fail to display the selected person when navigating directly to person view from the person editor.
- Fixed a bug which failed to display the expiration date picker when re-sending a Messenger.
- Mitigated an anomaly which affected the display of the person editor in some web browsers.
Uploads & Assignments

Account Management
- Resolved a misconfiguration which caused the “New Contact” button to be disabled immediately after creating or editing a contact.
- Updated the display of contacts with only an email address and a company name, so that they are identified by the email address instead of the company name in recipient lists.
- Mitigated an error which could appear when account administrators made modifications to contact records created by other users.
Asset Workflows & Organization
- Resolved errors in the permission checking related to the select levels interface, which caused non-functional select level buttons to appear for some users who did not have access to adjust select levels due to Project/Collection permissions or the ownership of the Edit containing the Selects.
- Corrected a bug which omitted the button for toggling the display of the select levels interface when viewing Edits created by Messenger recipients.
- Fixed a misconfiguration which caused more than one asset to move when using the “Move to top” icon in the Arrange mode of a Collection.
- Mitigated an anomaly which caused extra information to be displayed in Files View related to assets that were not included in the view.
- Resolved a bug which caused assets’ file storage buttons to be omitted from Collection views.
- Fixed a problem which caused the asset count to appear empty when switching tabs in the Asset Inspector with multiple assets selected.
- Addressed an issue which could cause some entries in the Activity Monitor to show more completed items than the total items involved.
- Mitigated a fault which caused the link for displaying errors in the Activity Monitor to become unresponsive when viewing the Activity Monitor in a dedicated browser window.
- Replaced an unwanted message which could appear when the folder picker had no matching results to display.
- Corrected an issue which could cause loading failures when opening Projects containing a very large number of assets.
- Restored the functionality of the keyboard shortcuts for Quick Look and metadata editing when viewing the results of an asset search.
Managing Users & Teams
- Corrected an anomaly which allowed invisible non-alphanumeric characters to be included inadvertently in usernames.
Security & Protection
- Addressed a bug which caused the “Remember Me” feature of the login page to become unreliable.
- Clarified the descriptions of the Browser Verification options in the Security section of the DF Studio account settings screen.
- Patched a misconfiguration which could allow a sophisticated attacker to access Quick Look view for an asset despite a lack of permissions to view the asset.
- Fixed a layout issue which could cause wider logos to wrap awkwardly in the login page header.
