Features have also been added to enhance the recipient’s experience with Messenger including our scroll-to-thumbnail behavior for convenient navigation, and our advanced download dialogue that allows the recipient to choose from the file types offered for download instead of just taking them all. An option to be sent a view only cc: of a Messenger will also improve the workflow of outside teams when collaborating on editing and approvals.
Folders have now been added to the Library Search feature set, and will appear when names are searched in-line with Projects and Collections. Our type-ahead feature has been brought to the Collections dialogue to improve the ability to find an existing Collection. A new Recent Projects permanent button has been added to the left navigation bringing back a very useful view of Projects. Users will also get a a new tool tip showing the total item counts in any folder by resting the mouse pointer on the navigation path at the top of the Library tab.
There were many bug fixes and UI improvements in the release, as well as some new workflow features added. We recommend evaluating what these enhancements will mean for all users and workflows.
Enhancements
- Messenger Tab: Filter by Messenger Status
The Messenger Tab’s user interface displays sent messages in two sub-tabs: recipients and messengers. In the “Messengers” sub-tab, a new drop-down menu allows the user to filter the view to Active, Expired, or All Messengers. In the “Recipients” sub-tab, the filter allows users to view Expired/Unreviewed, Recently Accessed, or Recently Sent. DF Studio now remembers the last configuration in the Messenger Tab, sub-tab and filters, and it displays the same when the user returns to the tab.
- Messenger Tab: New Admin-Level Filter for Viewing Own Messengers Only
Admin Users have always been able to see all users’ correspondence in the messenger tab. A new filter in the “Messenger” sub-tab allows Admins to filter messengers to just their own instead of seeing all messengers all the time.
- Messenger Wizard: Skip “Arrange Images” in Messenger Wizard
The Messenger Wizard has been reconfigured to skip “Arrange Images”, formerly the second step, and go straight to the Options tab. Users may still click on the “Arrange Images” tab in case they need to rearrange the order of their images.
- Messenger Wizard: Expiration Notice Checkbox
In the Options tab of the Messenger Wizard, a new checkbox has been added (under expiration date) that allows the user to opt out of sending expiration reminders/notifications to recipients.
- Messenger Wizard: View-Only CC Recipient
A new cc field has been added to the messenger wizard’s last page, which is designed to send view-only copies of an Approvals Messenger. This allows photo publicists to send Messengers with editing capabilities to only those that are authorized to perform photo approvals, such as talent and their publicists, while sending view-only copies to other parties, such as managers, assistants or producers.
- Messenger UI: Scroll-to-Thumbnail from 1-Up View
In the Messenger interface, if an image is double-clicked to reveal a larger image in 1-Up View, a frame with fading animation provides clear visual reference to the last photo viewed when switching back to Thumbnail view.
- Messenger UI: Advanced Download Dialogue
The download interface of the Messenger has been redesigned to allow recipients to choose the file types they would like to download. For example, if a set of images are sent with JPG, IIQ, and TIFF attachments, recipients can now choose to download only JPG files.
- New: Folders Included in Library Search
Users may now search for folder names we DF Studio’s quick-search.
- New: Typeahead Option for Collections Dropdown
When adding images to an existing collection, users can quickly find a specific collection with type-ahead functionality.
- New: Recent Projects View
A new “Recent Projects” button has been added to the navigation sidebar, which displays the last 500 projects added to DF Studio.
- New: Item Count in Library Listings
Users may now see in a tool-tip the total item counts in any folder by resting their mouse pointer on the navigation path at the top of the library tab.
